CINEMA LAB

Let the student start to the knowledge and use of specific languages (cinema, music). Let's solicit and stimulate the student to the creative use of new technologies. Let the student acquire basic skills in order to be aware in the use of these technologies. The work will be developed on groups of four to five students who will take care of the following aspects of a film.

As regards the MUSIC, SOUND and AUDIO, the students will understand what is the correct meaning of the term "soundtrack"; they will analyze and learn what are the various FUNCTIONS of a musical score in a film and what is the meaning of the terms MUSIC IN and MUSIC OFF; what is the meaning of CONVERGENT and DIVERGENT MUSIC; they will learn the concepts of SOUNDSCAPE, SOUND EFFECTS, SYNC, etc.. As for the TEXT, students will learn the concepts behind words SUBJECT, TREATMENT, SCREENPLAY, DUBBING, NARRATOR, STORYBOARD, etc..

The preparatory work will focus on:

  • the analysis of scenes from films;
  • the study and analysis of film language (grammar and syntax of the shots);
  • the study and analysis of the interactions between sound and images;
  • the functions of the narrator (and its surprising expressive opportunities);
  • the functions of music (and its amazing diegetic opportunities).

The second part will focus on:

  • the choice of a subject;
  • the implementation of the script and storyboards;
  • finally, the realization of a short film.

The purposes of the entire work relates mainly to the ways of either enjoyment and production of a film, from technical / technological and critical / aesthetic issues, helping to refine the taste and judgment skills through analytical investigation and by the creation of a short film.

Let the student start to the knowledge and use of specific languages (music, advertising). Let's solicit and stimulate the student to the creative use of new technologies. Let the students acquire basic skills in order to be aware in the use of these technologies. The work will be developed on groups of four to five students who will take care of the following aspects of a TV or RADIO ads. Students will understand what is the correct meaning of "jingle", "slogan", "voice-over" concepts, they will analyze and learn what are the various FUNCTIONS of background music in a TV or RADIO ad; they will learn the concepts related to the so-called post-production such as SOUND, SOUND EFFECTS, SYNC, etc.; they will learn the concepts behind such words as: ADVERTISING, CAMPAIGN, TESTIMONIALS, CLIENT, CONSUMER, ADVERTISING AGENCY, TARGET, ITEMS, PRODUCTION, POST-PRODUCTION, COPYWRITER, ART DIRECTOR, SCREENPLAY, DUBBING, STORYBOARD.

The preparatory work will focus on:

  • analysis of some spots;
  • the study and analysis of the language of advertising (grammar and syntax of the shots);
  • the study and analysis of the interactions between sound and images;
  • the functions of the voice over;
  • the functions of music.

The second part will focus on:

  • the choice of a subject;
  • the implementation of the script and storyboards;
  • Finally the realization of a spot.

The purpose of the whole work relates mainly to the way of production of an ad from technical / technological and critical / aesthetic issues, helping to refine the taste and judgment through analytic investigation and the realization of a ad.
